Oh wow. Looks like we're getting down to addressing the ethical issues around LLM technology.
A federal court ruled that ANTHROPIC illegally copied MILLIONS of books to train its AI.

All authors and publishers whose books were downloaded by Anthropic from pirate websites are subject to receiving compensation. This could involve your work.

Universities are not about the accumulation of knowledge, hoarded like gold ducats in a locked vault.

Humanity’s collective knowledge is a living thing; it circulates through society like blood; it must constantly be transmitted and renewed.

That is what we do.

Talked about this some time ago; AI models are self-poisoning.

RAG does help, but ultimately you will need something isolated and local to keep it from deteriorating.

TL;DR: LLMs suffer from brainrot. ;)

An analysis of rocks from Hawaii’s volcanic islands has found what could be the strongest evidence yet that material is leaking out of the Earth's core

Is Earth’s core leaking? Volcanic rocks provide strongest evidence yet
Samples from Hawaii seem to contain material that passed across the boundary between the planet’s core and its mantle, nearly 3,000 kilometres below the surface.

Even an experienced developer may be reluctant to build a simple tool due to the amount of plumbing required. Unmesh Joshi narrates his experience iterating with an LLM to handle the boilerplate of an extension to PlantUML.

Can you tell what was the point where I

1. Manually blocked a few AI crawlers

2. Moved my nameserver to Cloudflare plus turned on AI crawler blocking

My site w modest traffic (~1,000 visitors per day) went from serving ~1GB/hr (to tons of AI crawlers!) to ~50MB/hr in traffic
