Out of all the tracks I made this was the hardest.

To get everything to fit rythmically/sonically, and to form a story (with sub stories!) took around 100 samples and to get to that number I had to audition roughly 3000 (!).

Happy Friday!

Lots of folks in tech are looking for work right now, so here's a thread of some tech for good (or at least, hopefully not explicitly evil) roles I found around the web.

Just to be clear, both in the EU and the USA, influencers are required by law to disclose commercial intent/advertising.

Hiding it makes you a criminal.

MSFT/Google paying influencers for advertising is technically fine. Hiding it is not.
So. Everybody knows that "AI" is the future and inevitable and everyone loves it.

That is why Microsoft and Google are paying influencers between 400K and 600K to sell their AI products.
Google, Microsoft pay creators $500,000 and more to promote AI
Tech companies including Google and Microsoft are paying influencers hundreds of thousands of dollars to promote AI products.

Just layed out a basic track arrangement for 'Knettergek!'. Next up is adding some variations and fills in the right places.

Need a few more vocal chops here and there, and some crazy ones in between and at the end. :)

Seeing it come together: it's quite bonkers. :D

Hi Everyone,

I have just 5 signed copies of this record left on my bandcamp and would absolutely love to send you one.

For fans of synthpop, electropop and electronica.

These are the cheapest I can make them. You can get a cheaper, unsigned one, from elasticstage.

Thank you for the shares!

As @anildash.com mentioned a few times already: GenAI is not going anywhere, it proved its utility.

Whether we can make it economically/ecologically viable and/or create solutions not built around fascism and control by only a handful of companies: that's a different story.

My kid: blends tech and cheesy humor.
Me: I have no idea who he got that from.

One of the things I noticed with my 15yo doing a software dev education:

They are learning fundamentals, but at the same time using AI tools is completely natural them. They 100% understand they're not actually intelligent or sentient, but have no problem using them to achieve goals.
What would I do in a situation like this?

If I were just starting my career, I'd be listening to everything. I'd bet on the future and hedge on the fundamentals. I'd pick the most popular agentic coding tool and go all in. I'd hedge that bet by learning the fundamentals of software development.
We are asking developers to do more with less, including less pay. Either we have managed to cut cost without reducing output, or we have increased output, but have very little to show for it.

I'm sure there is another narrative around creating new opportunities, but I'm not hearing about those.

My 15yo is following a software dev education. Together with a group of friends they buy cheezy internet domains and host silly meme sites on them.

Responsive and everything, hosted on GitHub Pages.

Honing their tech skills and their memes at the same time. :D

The kids will be alright. :)

people claim WFH is bad for the economy but at least at home i’m only stealing company time instead of company time and massive amounts of company stationary

I haven't settled on an arrangement yet, and I am definitely holding back on a lot of stuff I already have in the project yet (don't want to spoil), but here's a quick 1 bar loop of *some* of the vocals for 'Knettergek!'. 😎

How many enterprise companies have meaningfully reduced, or eliminated, their software engineering backlogs. Are we at the point where GenAI is paying off in production?

Are salaries increasing to match this new level of productivity?

Time to record some vocal chops for 'Knettergek!' :D

Much delayed, but worth the wait, here's the #RaveyardRoundup for Saturday's #RaveyardShift - a whopper at 152 tracks! 🪩

Plus 2 more not on YT (but in the sheet) and a mix from @fancymistermark.bsky.social (also in the sheet) - Enjoy!

If you come up with a new software license for the AI age, please, please, do not call it AINAL.

No, this is not a joke.

Came up with a title for my upcoming track, and I've settled on 'Knettergek!'

And yes, there will be vocal chops to match. :D

The funny thing about me saying "I'll only post these X tracks tonight" for the #raveyardshift is that it will never be just X tracks.

Brain always comes up with more somehow. :D
