There were ownership limitations when I began my career in 1968, 7 am, 7 fm, and 7 tv. Diversity (bad word) of ownership, diversity of editorial opinion. Where did we go wrong. Barry Diller and Marty Pompadour walked in and a bunch of us left. I had enough in my fuck you fund.

GenAI hasn't changed society's attitude towards the arts much, except in the sense that it's actually accentuated society's broad contempt for artists.

And what really burns is that they STILL want the prestige of human art. That’s why they hide AI use. That’s why Sandfall didn’t disclose i until they were caught t. That’s why awards shows don’t want rules. They want the aura of craft without the cost of respecting the people who do it.

Your reminder that Lichtenstein never gave a dime during his lifetime to the comics artists whose work he shamelessly stole. Nor does his Lichtenstein Foundation which continues to profit greatly from those plagiarized images.

It's unforgivable. Lichtenstein was an immoral parasite.

This panoramic photo from last week makes me want to take the dog on as long a walk as the dog wants. My year of tendonitis makes me wish I’d never been born. ⚖️

The Webtoon business model isn’t better than tapas, which isn’t better than something like a Wikipedia for people who don’t want to go to a list of website links …that link to a crowdfund platform 🙂‍↕️

Don’t need to go to the library to read this one. Just need to borrow some reading time from the public trust.

questionablecontent.net/view.php?com... It’s not too late to get into a comic from 2003. It’s not impossible to self medicate effectively outside a state with public health.

new from me: are data centers going to wipe out water supplies? how much water does ChatGPT really use? and what's going on with that big correction in Empire of AI?

i went long on the conversation around AI and water, and how it's actually about what we want resources to be used for:
You’re Thinking About AI and Water All Wrong
Fears about AI data centers’ water use have exploded. Experts say the reality is far more complicated than people think.

My first ft job was making t-shirt designs for Disney. Their brand guidelines were crazy strict. For ex multiple princesses couldn’t interact/look at each other or have their feet visible.
I guess you can just slopify as much spiderman elsa feet stuff as you want now. Brand integrity? Who cares lol
