Ben Shapiro tried to deny it's a genocide in Gaza to Charlamagne on The Breakfast Club. So I went on the show today to explain why Shapiro got the definition of genocide wrong, & point out that he uses the G-word for Syria & the Uyghurs, which are nowhere near as genocidal as Gaza.

He was an advocate of violence against his political opponents and took positions like “the civil rights act should be repealed,” “the Jews are replacing white people,” and “Ukraine is an evil country and we should let them die.” Kirk’s entire career played a nontrivial role in getting us here.
I feel like I am taking crazy pills. Charlie Kirk’s ultimate goal, which he said time and time again, would have been the suppression, through threat of violence and the use of state power, of the rights of those he disagreed with, including freedom of expression.

When you publish a website that posts the names and photos of scholars who have written or said things you disagree with and encourage people to surveil and harass them, you are not, in fact, a “free speech” organization.
It is quite simply dishonest to describe TPUSA as a “free speech” organization and not even mention the “Professor Watchlist,” as NPR just did. Reporting on a crime does not entail adopting the victim’s views.

More extraordinary still is the sanitising of Kirk's politics. Kirk was - and this is just a straightforwardly factual statement - a far right activist. And here's a former British Prime Minister not merely mourning his death or condemning his murder but actively *praising* his politics.
We don’t yet know who killed Kirk or why. Not that you’d know it from the endless numbers of accounts on X with huge follower numbers, including British politicians, making as yet unknowable claims about the motivations behind the murder.

There have been young douchebros around my entire life. It’s just that until recently there wasn’t an industry telling them that they were entitled to be douchebros without anyone calling them douchebros.
