The New York Times reports Jonathan Braun—a violent felon with ties to Jared Kushner, whose sentence Trump commuted—has been sent back to prison after new charges, including assaulting a 3-year-old. In court, he ranted about his lawyer and flipped off spectators. His fifth arrest.

I genuinely don't care if you like Mamdani or not. But this is actually a massive sign of a breakdown of news as an institution for upholding democracy and instead of upholding auotocracy.

So glad we're finally putting a stop to the "weaponization" of government institutions against political opponents.
Rep. Andy Ogles, a Republican from Tennessee, has sent a letter to Pam Bondi calling for Zohran Mamdani to be stripped of his citizenship and deported.

This is generalizable: Anyone with the personal traits required to rise in this administration is, for that very reason, presumptively morally defective.
"Bove’s fundamental problem as a nominee is that there is simply no reason to believe him ethically or morally capable of fulfilling the judicial oath Trump has nominated him to take," writes @benjaminwittes.lawfaremedia.org in The Situation. www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-...

This is remarkable. New Quinnipiac poll finds support for path to legalization for most undocumented immigrants has risen to 64%. Only 31% want most of them deported.

That's a 14 point net swing for legalization since Trump took office.

On immigration generally, he's at 41-57!

Important.

We’re sliding down the slope. Actually, we’re sliding because Stephen Miller is pushing. He knows what he’s doing. Domestic deployment of the military at the absolute discretion of the president — a big move, a big prize, for the authoritarians.
This is the slippery slope

@lizagoitein.bsky.social has very sharp analysis on why this appears illegal on all counts (including Trump’s own presidential memorandum)
