the UK’s Internet age verification law has led to the effective censorship of all LGBT content on Reddit

what a shocking and unexpected turn of events!
Post on /r/transgenderUK entitled “Reddit now censors LGBTQ+ content under OFCOM’s new ‘Online Safety Act’” post text: “I honestly can't even think of words to describe how vile this is. Here's a screenshot of what I now see when I search "lgbt" with my VPN switched off. Occasionally a banner appears at the top of the screen saying something about needing to verify ID to access "mature content" but the button doesn't even work. The fact that we're now considered "mature content" makes me feel sick.” The screenshot referenced in the previous image, showing the results of a search on Reddit for the term LGBT. No results from LGBT-specific subreddits appear; instead, posts from /r/Conservative, /r/Islam, /r/JustUnsubbed, etc are highlighted.

🆕🚨 New statutory Relationships and Sex Education guidance published today will:

- Restrict schools from using materials that "encourage pupils to question their gender"
- Teaches children the laws about "biological sex"
- Removes all references to the word transgender

Myth: Trans women are not "real" women. Trans men are not "real" men. Reality: Trans women are women, and trans men are men. Gender identity is what defines a person's gender, not anatomy or chromosomes. Denying this isa form of discrimination.

The UK Data (Use and Access) Bill is currently being debated in Parliament and anti-trans campaigners are trying to amend the Bill so it requires public authorities to collect data about 'biological sex' (see below).

🚨 THIS NEEDS TO BE OPPOSED 🚨

The amendment reads: To move the following Clause— “Directions to public authorities on recording of sex data (1) The Secretary of State must, within three months of the passage of this Act, issue regulations relating to the code of practice set out in section 49 of this Act which require public authorities to— (a) collect, process and retain sex data only where it is lawful to do so in accordance with data protection legislation; (b) request and record sex data accurately, in every circumstance where sex data is collected, in accordance with following category terms and definitions— (i) ”Sex” meaning male or female only based on “sex at birth”, “natal sex” or “biological sex” (these terms carrying the same meaning and capable of being used interchangeably); and, (ii) in addition, where it is lawful to do so in accordance with data protection legislation and the Gender Recognition Act 2004, “Acquired Gender” meaning male or female only, as recorded on a gender recognition certificate issued in accordance with the Gender Recognition Act 2004.
