Activity of most genes is controlled by multiple enhancers, but is there activation coordinated? We leveraged Nanopore to identify a specific set of elements that are simultaneously accessible on the same DNA molecules and are coordinated in their activation www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... @embl.org

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

We are the cosmos made conscious and life is the means by which the universe understands itself.

What role does our diet play in the development of colorectal cancer? The team behind a paper in Nature Communications shares how their work evolved from tracking changes in the gut microbiome to investigating how dietary changes can affect disease outcomes. 🧪
Ketogenic diet in colorectal cancer - just how powerful is the gut microbiome?
Colorectal cancer is the second most common form of cancer worldwide 1. Concerning as this already sounds, the breakdown of these statistics reveals a far more worrying trend - while the CRC-related death rate has been steadily dropping in the older population (over 55 years of age), thanks to advances in screening, the death rate amongst the younger population has risen by about 1% per year for the past 20 years 2.
