Once I dated a girl who would apologize every time she sent four texts before I sent a reply. I didn't get it (still don’t) but I now find a great deal of joy sending texting her three times in a row followed by a 4th saying “sorry for quad text”.

I guess it's called "corruption." I've never heard that before. I said wow what a beautiful word. It comes from the Latin [spicy voice] corrumpere. But it's something we're doing and we'll be doing it perhaps more than ever before

Notice: “work sucks” when directed at men means that we need better working conditions and higher pay. “Work sucks” when directed at women means that they should drop out and have babies.

We are peacefully protesting. They are kidnapping and hurting us.

i think the reason i find relatively well-heeled american people’s doomerism hard to bear is that it’s no less self important than evangelicals’ assertions that these just happen to be the end of days. and compared to people in e.g. the global south most of us ARE relatively well-heeled

It’s so embarrassing to still believe this. It’s like thinking Santa is real.
“You can still be rich even if you’re not a billionaire!” Sure—and if you strip billions from someone like Jeff Bezos, he’ll invest less in building things that actually improve people’s lives. Amazon has done more for the average person than the government could dream of.

Dems need to accept that this whole “see, we can still work with Republicans to get things done” schtick is part of the reason a lot of people don’t believe the entirely correct claims of corruption and authoritarianism. If those claims were true, why would you still be working with them?
Amid chaos in Washington, Minnesota is proving that Democrats and Republicans can still work together to get things done.

We just reached a bipartisan budget deal that protects investments we’ve made to improve lives and puts us in a strong financial position for years to come.

To bring this back to the Biden age discourse - why not - it's not a problem for Dems bc voters will give a shit about Biden in future elections.

It's because if you have a phony dissembling answer these voters say "that's a phony" and ignore you.
This is true everywhere! It’s how lots of Republicans who promote really unpopular policies get elected!
Granted I'm not in Florida, but it never seemed that it was a moderate or progressive thing, but a "this person has conviction and will stick to their guns" vs. "this person is saying what I want to hear and feels fake." We need politicians that are proud of the positions they espouse!

it's jolting how little AI skepticism has reached the general public. i've had many acquaintances ask whether i use AI for research and seem shocked when i tell them it's completely useless for that purpose. my wife recently told her colleagues about hallucinations and it was news to all of them.

the thing about schumer stepping down is (1) he absolutely should but (2) the entire dem senate caucus re-elected him unanimously just a few months ago despite his inadequacies being glaringly obvious. really illustrates how un-seriously they took trump, that nobody said hey maybe a fighter instead

My YES vote is *not* an endorsement of this deeply flawed CR.

My YES vote is 💯 about refusing to shut our government down.

I refuse to punish working families and plunge millions of Americans into chaos.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, ever vote to shut our government down.
