Great read!

“Mokyr advances the argument that the deep roots of economic modernity are not to be found in capital accumulation, resource endowments or the opening of trade routes, but rather in a cultural transformation centred on reason and scientific discovery.”

You don’t actually have to both sides this. The Jewish community in the UK is not the Israeli government. You can just condemn the murder of two British Jews killed in their place of worship and you don’t have to say a single other thing.

First the US, then it’s UK, and it will not stop there. Academia (and society) need to step up, not saying anything is saying a lot.
UK academics, be aware that what's happening to universities in the US is coming to us in a few years, in the (unfortunately quite likely) event that Reform wins.

Labour needs to get it's act together and give people a reason to vote for them.
Having lied to congress earlier in the week, Farage flew back to the U.K. to lie to his party conference. Populists don’t like having to deal with reality and truth. www.timeshighereducation.com/news/univers...

second, unsubstantiated so far,

third, would...

Yes, they’re under pressure. But maybe a lot of these leaders kinda like what Trump’s doing. Just remember: They were defeated once before.

Let's do basic math: 12 meals-ready-to-eat per case. 48 cases per pallet. That's 576 meals per pallet. Say you gotta feed a million people, three meals a day. One pallet will feed 192 people per day. To feed a million people, you'd have to airdrop 5,208 pallets per day. Like come on. This is stupid.
Israel will allow foreign countries to airdrop aid into Gaza, an Israeli security source says, as the country faces mounting backlash over a spiraling hunger crisis in the Palestinian enclave.
