National Guard documents show public ‘fear,’ veterans’ ‘shame’ over D.C. presence
Internal documents reviewed by The Post reveal, with rare candor, how domestic missions rooted in politics risk damaging Americans’ trust in the military.

The reason it used to be scandalous for politicians to demonize supposed enemies with violent rhetoric isn't because we were prudes, it was because such talk is _always_ precursor to stochastic terrorism. But now entire media channels are devoted to it.

look at this bullshit.
The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

Whether or not you support political violence won’t change where we’ve come to, nor where we’ve been for some time in this country. I am quite taken aback by how many people only invoke the term ‘political violence’ when it happens to a person with power. It’s political violence the other way too.

Yes, look at what happened to those who went to fight Cop City in Atlanta- racketeering charges leveled against them for defending land and human rights.

A disconcerting number of high status people upended their worldviews because other people did not affirm that status in the way they thought appropriate.
And social media accelerated this because for high status people it is often the experience of people telling you that you are wrong.

Sad to hear of the death of Eric Jones. The Lunar Surface Journal is a magnificent resource. And I still remember the thrill of the mere fact that a book called "Interstellar Migration and the Human Experience" had the temerity to exist/

As I detailed in WHITE FLIGHT, segregationists in Atlanta absolutely loved public services -- buses and trolleys, parks and pools, golf courses and tennis courts, etc. -- right until they were forced to desegregate and "stolen" from them. They abandoned them and built up private alternatives.

I'd just like to point out how weird it is that places with hundreds or even thousands of reporters — the NYT, WaPo, CBS, NBC, AP, etc. — are all getting pummeled on every major story by the dozen computerboys at Wired. To fumble the bag this consistently is, at some point, cowardice and a choice.
