James Ball demands an overturn of the Russia Today ban
I think banning it would be bad, because:
1. It would backfire domestically
2. It would backfire HUGELY internationally
3. Democratic governments shouldn’t ban social platforms.
BUT: they really, *really* should stop using it.

genuinely hard to think of another single move the UK govt could do that would do as much good as banning twitter. it's the poison at the root of so much ill

Romans would never have had the guts to cancel HS2, but no one today wants to talk about the other side of the ledger🌹 #FiscalResponsibility #ImperialWaste #HS2
Fascinating stuff.
A high-resolution dataset of roads of the Roman Empire, this study claims to have identified thousands more miles of Roman roads than were previously known.

one of the worst things about being in government is the public's persistent ingratitude
the worst thing is making decisions ofc because you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't (except for when you have to make 'tough choices' because they're always obvious weirdly)🌹

Almost universal across the west. Voters have never had it so good. But they feel more was promised. And isn't just the cost but the difficulties of life, and the sense of a class that doesn't face these.

pfffl - the centre is getting better at charisma, and it's making lefties nervous 🌹🥵
At a time when Labour are failing to deliver on one of its key promises the Guardian publishing this drivel as an “exclusive” tells you more about the Guardian’s client journalism and how desperate the Labour right has become than anything else.

this is the truest thing ever posted & everyone calling it 'the reply guy's mantra' or 'weirdo cope' is just showing themselves up as a toxic narcissist desperate to retain hierarchy from which they draw their limited self-worth.
Happy is the reply guy for they, like the ant, see the world to scale

The sign of a good social media user is that their Post count is small and their Reply count is big. It means they spend their time participating in discussions rather than constructing zingers to harvest likes.

I have inside information that this is the Your Party venue:
Semi-serious point - the continued inability of liberals to connect the actions of billionaire creeps to the perversities of late stage capitalism, the structural inevitability of this kind of act, doesn't bode especially well
I helped make a film, out this week, called “Rovina’s Choice,” about the deaths this man without conscience or accountability has caused — already 600,000, ⅔ of them children.

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.
