If I were covering this for a media outlet, I would reach out to film industry people and actors (and companies) whose families, colleagues, and friends would have direct personal comment on this, and if they would change any decisions they make as a result. #nzpol
It's being reported that New Zealand has banned puberty blockers for transgender youth. I removed New Zealand from my recommendations to families fleeing a while back after the far right saw a surge in power in the country.

Sad day for NZ trans youth.

The Government is banning new patients from being prescribed the most common form of puberty blocker and is explicitly aligning NZ's future policy on this matter to the UK's. PR below.

“Having an infrastructure that takes harassment and threats against all mayors seriously…could prevent actual acts of violence and help mayors feel supported enough to continue doing their job well.”

I can’t stress enough the daily impact this has. In the end, the whole community suffers. #nzpol
When I was mayor of Mpls, I was on the leading edge of something people didn’t want to name — a new wave of harassment toward women in public office.

New research shows women mayors face far more harassment and threats than men.

Interesting how roads need to be designed for a surge capacity (that they will still likely not meet) but hospital staffing has to be reduced to bare bones that struggles to meet median demand….🤔
This we call a propaganda piece and not actual journalism
No we dont nor ever will need State Highway 1 as 4 lanes to Northland. Ironically showing why Labour Day was a problem also shows why NZTA's analysis is junk. The highway like mall parking lots only get clogged 4x a year
2+1 road is enough

They are saying 32% GST and 72 for retirement age so we will happily accept 20% GST and 68 for retirement age. Why don’t they say 5% wealth tax and 40% corporate tax on big conglomerates? No of course they won’t say that no siree.

Simeon Brown is funding private equity telehealth companies up to ~4.5 times ($65/appt) more than community GPs. These same companies e.g. Tend Health are then charging Kiwis $80-100 for a call. #kiwi

Housing (shelter) is and always should be a Universal Right above all else
ACT Greens leader Shane Rattenbury, who authored the bill, "it will start the process of reshaping the way we think about housing in this city".
"It will create a new requirement, by law, for the Govt to treat housing not as a private asset for wealth creation, but as a foundational social good”
An important step.

"It's never been done in Australia before — enshrining housing as a human right. But it's a concept that will soon become a reality in the ACT."

our government runs a structural deficit - revenue from taxes doesn’t even cover operational expenses - and we have embedded structural limitations in the economy: low investment in plant and machinery (and R and D), a housing market scam, massive private debt funding everyday purchases, etc

I want the government to fund our nurses and healthcare system. I know people whose healthcare was delayed, not by strikes, but by our overburdened system struggling under the load.

There isn't even appropriate gynaecological care in our capital city. It's INSULTING how poorly our public system is.

Your weekly reminder that voter "concern" with immigration doesn't correspond to actual immigration levels.

It corresponds to the amount of coverage the media gives immigration.

This an entirely self-fulfilling mess, and it is entirely pointless.
