In a crowded field of evil corporates, Elsevier is unethical and antisocial enough to really stand out. Fully support unis across our part of the world refusing to bow to them.

Elsevier should be made to eat it at every opportunity.

Universities in 'battle of the century' with journal publisher Elsevier
One New Zealand university told its staff all universities in New Zealand and Australia would "lose some degree of access" to the publisher's 1600 titles from the start of next year.

If anyone wants to help out the street dogs of Thailand Niall is currently running the marathon for them and it is being streamed life on yt Happy Doggo channel, you can donate there.

Some former graduates now living around the world wishing him well.
I still remember how bad a state every single one of these dogs were in when I found them in various bad situations in Thailand.

This was a surprise from the @happydoggo.com team. Talk about emotional just 3 hours before the Marathon!

There's an election in NZ next year. Make the living wage the bare minimum employers can pay an election issue. Workers shouldn't have to fight their employers for a life of dignity. Many can't and many lose. End electing people who believe in slave wages.

The alienation of young people can be blamed on Covid, phones and much else. But those are exacerbations. The real cause is rent exploitation in all its forms. It is neoliberalism that is destroying the lives of young people. And that is why it has to go. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/11...

There were 159,000 written submissions on the Regulatory Standards Bill (on top of over 23,000 submissions last year) - numbers that are second only to the Treaty Principles Bill in NZ’s history.

More than 98% of public submissions were opposed.

There’s a word for this, but it’s not democracy.

At what point do we publicly accept that NZ is deeply corrupt and the only reason why we don’t have a culture of direct payoffs and bribery (that we cite as the evidence for us not being corrupt) is because it’s not needed? The boys club gets what it wants through people playing their social roles.

But it’s 135 pages long so I’ve read it for you.

Here’s my report on one of the most serious failures of integrity in modern policing history⬇️⬇️
The inside story of how police protected a senior cop, and prosecuted his accuser instead
For years, police leadership ignored warnings about Jevon McSkimming. The IPCA has set out the chain of failures.

To get this you have to first let politicians know what you demands are and that your vote is dependent on them. These policies don't magic up without pressure from voters.
Savings advice. I have some.

1. Vote in a Govt that DOESN’T gut employment, lower wages & kick pay equity to touch.
2. Vote in a Govt committed to affordable housing for all.
3. Vote in a Govt that is committed to affordable childcare, PT and free healthcare - including dentistry. 1/2 #nzpol
