Overthrow capitalism
It's probably the most justifiable Christmas item available early. You're not going to be going out to buy something in December that you start on December the first.

Christ on a stick. Every single term we swing between National and Labour people decide whichever one is not in govt would surely be handling it better. Will they ever come to terms with the fact both are just utter shit and will never be any better than when they last rejected them?

and it takes much longer to pay off. Older people (boomer generation) love to say young people expect too much, but young people today would be grateful for the equivalent opportunities of young people in the seventies. They should be better, but even as they were would be an improvement on reality.

In my parents generation you could go to university and not come out with massive debt (in fact you pay for your year's tuition with a summer holiday job). My parents could afford a house in their early twenties, today being able to afford a first home takes at least another decade to save a deposit

Being able to afford housing is obviously a pretty important aspect of those material conditions.

I meant what I said. Their material economic conditions. Being not great in the mid 70s does not mean they are not worse for people today.

Predators cannot thrive in a society like they do without being condoned by people like Megyn Kelly, that's why she's copping the (deserved) heat she is. What she is doing is so so much worse than trolling. Abusers are justifying future abuse in their own heads because of her words.

Nothing is 100% universally true, but measuring the generations against each other it is definitely true. Yes the housing Ponzi scheme has caused infinite harm to the younger and future generations if something significant and radical doesn't happen to correct that.

Which is entirely appropriate, because they are not always synonymous and we are really talking about CSA.

Justifying abuse of children simply because they are closer to the age of no longer being children is disgusting.
November 15, 2025 at 5:53 PM
Yes. Did they not understand this in 2023, or just think it's probably not going to be their problem?
November 15, 2025 at 2:45 AM
Of course. They would rather lose than lose their wealthy donors. What consequences are there for losing? They're out of strategy because lying to working class people with their fake promises of policies for them always only ever had a limited lifespan.
November 15, 2025 at 2:43 AM
What they want is people out of work but not on a benefit. This is why it always suited them that women were more likely the victims of this policy because they would be supported by their partner, but now it is impossible for families to live on single incomes.
November 15, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Yes. Both National and Labour are committed to pushing people out of work for inflation (which has been proven not to work) and wage suppression (does work). Yet neither are willing to fairly compensate those workers (even to a basic standard of living) in exchange for that cruelty.
November 15, 2025 at 2:34 AM
What they mean is their parents and grandparents had significantly better economic conditions generally. And some people who were adults at that time will readily admit that truth even if some will not.
November 15, 2025 at 1:45 AM
We need a real left who intend to deliver a more equitable division of the pie.
November 14, 2025 at 11:13 PM
The "left" has lost the majority because they now copy the ideology of the right. "oh you know those crumbs of pie we used to throw you? Now we want them back." Every policy from the self described left now is just more capital interest policy served up in a working class costume.

"Their money" is a misnomer when it comes to the wealthy. Every step of the way to those riches relies on the exploitation of others. It was never 'their money' to take.

Mostly I am seeing the tone police defend the joke banning personally.
