Ron, I get that you're angry. I get that you want accountability. You probably want a little revenge. Probably a lot of revenge. But your comment is completely absurd. It's clownish. It's inhumane. You're better than this. And you should be better informed.

Great story here in @nature.com from @helenpearson.bsky.social on the state of health in the US and what happens when RFK's Make America Healthy Again rhetoric meets the evidence on what actually needs to change.

Ft. this shocking graph on US health exceptionalism:

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.
Vice-President JD Vance confirms he has joined BlueSky.

Trump and his highest tier of appointees are not governing as if they have any concern about winning elections. Which makes me think they have a plan to not have free and fair elections again in the future.

Dictators don't worry about election consequences - they always "win" in landslides.

It’s far too soon to ascribe responsibility for the horrific DC plane collision, but it’s not too soon to say that dismantling the safeguards afforded by a functioning federal government put us at significant risk. And it’s irrefutable that, since January 20th, we are all less safe.

'Twas the Night Before Christmas was published 201 years ago and was a key text in the invention of Christmas as an American tradition. Puritans had outlawed the holiday, and in early 19th century NYC it was associated with working class drunken disorder and (sometimes) anti-elite violence.

Great thread
Judith Butler is 100% correct. The word "woke" is pure reactionary bullshit. Its contemporary meaning also distorts history by making it seem as if every positive cultural change of the past 200 years has happened naturally, without agitation by people considered, at the time, dangerously "woke."
