[For people new to me, I signed the NYT letter ~back in the day~ and have been covering trans stories for the past 15 years since I was back at Metro Weekly (and before then at the original Law Dork) ... this is by NO means anything new from me. It just needs to be said again right now.]

And, yes, fuck Jesse Singal and those who followed him — including at the NYT — who tilled the soil to help make it possible for this hellish hate movement to grow.

To be clear: I have been busy with, well, yeah, but fuck JK Rowling and the anti-trans hate she happily basks in. (And fuck everyone over on this side of the ocean who decided that hating on a minority population like she has was the right approach to feeling better about yourself.)

HUGE WIN: A federal judge just issued a lengthy TRO prohibiting the Trump administration from freezing federal funds to Maine over their policies protecting transgender youth.

🚨NEW: The NC Supreme Court's GOP majority will retroactively nullify 2,000 to 7,000 ballots from military and overseas voters unless they quickly prove their identity—but only those who voted in a few Democratic counties.

Could overturn Justice Riggs' victory.

Maine won a TRO against the feds for attempting to withhold federal funds based on Title IX without following the proper procedure. This was all triggered by Governor Mills standing up to Trump re the state's inclusive policies for trans athletes.

NEW: What happened this week in Trump's authoritarianism speed-run.

Aggressive and often unconstitutional immigration policies are testing the law and the courts. At the same time, the Trump administration is testing — and breaking — the government.

An in-depth look at Law Dork on where we're at.

Big state-court news out of Montana.

(Care of @zoandbehold.bsky.social, here is the full opinion: www.documentcloud.org/documents/25...)
Montana's anti-trans bathroom ban is BLOCKED by the courts.

The judge finds that the ban was "motivated by animus" and that it showed no evidence that it protects safety and privacy.

Rising, not raw subscriptions, but still, it's nice to see our trans-led journalism about to pass up Bari Weiss' The Free Press in growth of readership.

And as a broader point to traditional media outlets: People want good LGBTQ+ journalism. This is proof.

Being snatched off the street for your opinions. I'll say it again. We are deciding, right now, whether the aspirations we hold for this country are finished. Whether we're going to let these hoodlums and grifters throw what's left of the American idea into the garbage for their own profit and gain.
RUMEYSA OZTURK KIDNAPPING VIDEO

Here is a video of federal agents detaining Tufts University PhD student Rumeysa Ozturk Tuesday night.

Rumeysa was abducted as she was heading to meet with friends to break her Ramadan fast.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

The Signal leak is a prime moment for Democrats to get caught trying. Call for resignations or impeachment hearings or both. Be omnipresent in the media demanding and explaining accountability measures. Don’t let this fade away. Treat this the way the GOP treated Hillary’s emails. Make it a thing.

"Let's not take the soul-sucking path of sacrificing the most persecuted for that which we deem to be most popular. I know that there are transgender children right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist. Well, I am."
