there's a tweet someone posted in my language that i love it that would translate more or less like this:

"You know, deep down they're ...a good person..."
And i'm supposed to keep digging people's character to deserve their bare minimum? do i look like an oil rig, that digs feelings at the bottom?

One of the most life-changing things my therapist ever taught me is to stop responding to emotional subtext from others. You are not obligated to meet needs and feelings that others refuse to acknowledge even exist on their end. Others have to use their words to get their needs met.

I hate these fascist motherfuckers with every cell in my body and with nearly equal timbre I hate the cowardice of the only people in a position to oppose them who treat it like they were playing crazy 8s over cocktails and watercress sandwiches

I wish there was a way to immediately block those accounts that are following 1k - 98k people, they are all spam and I'm so sick of getting notified every time another one follows me.

I won't live in denial, but this time around, I also won't live in rage and fear. You cannot let the actions of corrupt and powerful men steal your joy and cloud your mind with despair. There have always been and always will be corrupt and powerful men. Secure your air masks. Life your life. Fight.

Just a reminder of some of the context around the TikTok ban: In 2020, Trump tried to ban it via executive order a couple months after K-pop fans used it to organize fake signups to Trump’s Tulsa rally, which led him to publicly overestimate how large the crowd size would be.

This broke my heart to read.
I keep saying 'surely something has to break' with the housing crisis and I don't know why I think that because all evidence suggests that capitalism will just keep capitalisming while people die in the streets.

This is a great piece, not just because it goes into detail about how the digital experience has gotten worse and who's caused it, but because the author genuinely likes digital spaces and wants them to be good experiences for everyone.

the fact that we have "serious" convos about whether billionaires are okay suggests public consciousness that is totally divorced from the 1) actual scale of private wealth accumulation 2) its political implications. helpful data visualization:

I worked for a few years as a legal videographer; the degree of contemptuous zero-effort deceit demonstrated by every health insurance representative was breathtaking. I had one person answer "I don't recall" in response to whether he had a Masters degree, what it was about, and from what college.

The words "deny," "defend" and "depose" were found on shell casings near where Brian Thompson, the CEO of insurance giant UnitedHealthcare, was killed - as in, the legal tactics insurers use to reduce liability or reject claims abcnews.go.com/US/man-shot-...

Israel has obliterated the mausoleum of Simon Peter, the Apostle of Christ, in Shama, southern Lebanon.

A sacred site that has stood for over 2,000 years, now lies in ruins.

This is not “self-defense”.

This is a war crime and a crime against history.
