I was definitely alive for this one but I was just a fat little toddler when the rules for driving without a seatbelt changed too.
People threw a fit over individual freedoms for buckling up in the 80s and the roads are safer now than they were back then.
We can change things for the better.

I lived thru the end of public smoking. Early in my career I presented to city councils who were smoking, in front of audiences who were smoking.
Smoking in restaurants, airplanes, hospitals…
All of that seems insane now, but it was very controversial when we DID change it.
We CAN change things.

I 100% have double standards in animation. When a mainstream series that's been focus-grouped to shit belabours a joke it's whatever, but when an indie show with very limited screen time burns two solid minutes doing a desperately unfunny bit the creator clearly thinks is hilarious, please, go on.

My beloved and I went to a light display tonight presently showing in the San Francisco Botanical Garden. Given the harshness of what today has held, being surrounded by light cutting through the darkness seemed a meaningful place to be.
