It's a very very bad flu season this year. If you haven't gotten your vaxx yet (looks at herself*) get it. At minimum it will make your infection less bad.

*(Time got away from me and I'm too chicken shit to mix Covid and Flu vaccines so I got my Covid shot but not my flu . I will tomorrow!)

U.S. flu rates remain low, but experts are keeping an eye on a new strain that’s been linked to unexpectedly early and severe seasons in several other countries

Wear you masks, folks!
Patient came in with sore throat. While waiting for rapid Strep test result we glanced back at the Covid-19 RAT result: positive. Reminder that masking in health care makes sense, if you don’t want everyone in your waiting room to go home sick, your staff to get sick, and physicians to get sick.

This is incredibly, incredibly sad. It was one of the world’s leading public health institutions, but the kooks who Trump hired into federal health leadership positions have done all they can to dismantle it.
Handed a patient a printout of a CDC summary.

They were suspicious.

I pointed out the publication date.

It was from 2024.

The CDC website has been lobotomized. Where it once presented the decades of evidence debunking the false claims of a link between vaccines and autism, that has now been replaced with junk science.

As I've said before, the distinction drawn between acute infectious diseases and chronic diseases is, in many cases, artificial. This is the huge flaw in MAHA: infections can and often do cause chronic disease; vaccines can thus prevent some chronic diseases.

GOOD NEWS! Researchers at the University of Exeter have found that getting vaccinated against shingles- a painful and debilitating condition that can flare up years after infection from varicella zoster virus- not only LOWERS the risk of infection, but can also PROTECT against Alzheimer’s disease!

It's easy to forget the fear of being denied access for things we now take for granted.
The ACA did 3 big things in the insurance market:

1. Guaranteed access irrespective of pre-existing conditions.

2. Required benefits like maternity and mental health, and prohibited lifetime and annual limits.

3. Provided tax credits to help people afford insurance.
