While the sentiment is clearly heartfelt and we think it's not wrong, it belies that this would have been equally true at every point in American history (at least as long as we don't treat the harms right now as special only because Trump does them).

I think we need to stop "just asking questions" and say what we mean: the NYT editorial board either does not care about racism as long as it serves their purposes or is itself deeply racist.

The point here isn't to beat up on Jordan Lasker. It's to ask how the NYT called a white supremacist hack an "academic" when his only academic work of note was so awful that its ethical and scientific awfulness was a national scandal. No one even Googled. No one fact-checked this story AT ALL. 5/

If Trump doesn't seize power this term, Democrats will be handed a trifecta with which they will do nothing, lose everything in 4 years, and deliver us into another fascist presidency, except this time (as has been the trend) it will be even worse.
It's not just Trump's approval taking a hit. Voters also say they care less than they did in 2024 about (formerly) GOP-leaning issues like crime and immigration.
