Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.
Wild how the Fed chair saying that *entire regions of the United States* won’t be able to get a mortgage in the next decade barely registered as a news event

was not expecting to wake up and see reports of an early-morning swath of large hail along the Front Range (apologies to those who woke up to damage.) Big hail in the early am is *exceedingly* rare. Prior to today, only 7 reports in state records of 2"+ hail between the hours of 2-5am. #cowx

Our biggest, bestest national celebration.

I expected this to be a terrifying fascist spectacle, but instead I actually feel a little sad, like the time my friend Charlie and I set up a lemonade stand when we were seven and nobody stopped all day.

I'd bet AccuWeather was responsible for warning the derailed train to stop in the path of the 27 Apr 2025 EF2 Bingham NE tornado...
Accuweather is pushing a study that claims (without describing the data/methods with any reproducibility) that they are superior hurricane forecasters. Among their ridiculous claims is that they were the "only" one to predict disastrous flooding from Helene. Gory details here: x.com/accuweather/...

There's been lots of chatter, much of it uninformed, regarding the tornado warnings issued by NWS Jackson, KY Friday. The 2 sig tornadoes had lead times of 28 and 40 minutes respectively, pretty damn good for being short staffed, to their credit. Radar at issuance time. 1/2
