It's not ideal that the one person in the entire world that Trump is willing to listen to is Vladimir Putin.
Q: Are you optimistic that a deal will emerge from this Russia meeting?

Leavitt: This is a listening exercise

Not sure drumming up support for the European arms industry is quite what he had in mind, but that'll be the result...
Trump: We'll sell our allies toned down military planes, because someday, maybe they're not our allies.

America, what have you become?

This is a fantastic example of what a Labour government can do when it gets it right 👏

*The right to guaranteed hours for zero hours workers.
* Protection from unfair dismissal from day one in the job.

Dear Brirish people,

You got a new title from Russia: the biggest warmongers.

Russian foreign intelligence service called you that, accused you of sabotaging US efforts for peace and blamed you for starting both World Wars - the Telegraph

Only 6% of Gen Z actually support dictatorship. So why did the media tell us it was 52%?

Our research exposes the misleading narratives around young people and democracy, write Prof Bobby Duffy and Dr Paolo Morini.
Young people don’t want dictators: they want government that works
New research finds that reports of a Channel 4 poll gave a very misleading picture of young peoples’ attitudes to government and democracy

I see that Rachel Reeves is saying benefits are not a lifestyle choice, and citing Personal Independence Payment (PIP). You know what? PIP _isn't_ a choice - for people with serious disabilities and illnesses, it's a necessity. Nobody would ever choose to live this way.

Dear BBC the USA is not ‘stepping up pressure on Ukraine to agree a peace deal’. It is taking Russia’s side in the war.

Why is Musk pushing for elections and “regime change” in Ukraine… but not Russia?

Musk & Trump have no interest in democracy, America’s historical guarantees, rule of law, sovereignty or peace.

They’re siding with a murderous dictator to try and break Ukraine - and Europe.

"The reason for that is quite simple. Trump is unable to – or perhaps unwilling to – do anything against Russia…”

"It’s not about the minerals, or the elections, or any of it.
It’s about submission"
And the same logic plays out not just on the streets, but in geopolitics.
–“Sign this deal on your minerals.”
–“Ok.”
–“Well… then we’ll punch you because you didn’t wear a suit.”
It’s not about the minerals, or the elections, or any of it.

The Trump-Putin Pact already exists, and we should act accordingly. There are some things we will never change with nice words or smart clothing. If you are worried about those things, you should understand where Trump's tactics come from. From Russia.

So, Trump's brilliant plan for "peace" was to cut off Ukraine’s air defenses so Russians could pour ballistic missiles onto the people of Ukraine until the daily massacres force the survivors to yield to Putin's demands.

For all the focus on Trump, this cakeist pattern where US policymakers demand that the Europeans rearm yet refuse to accept that a rearmed Europe would no longer accept US leadership goes back at least to Obama and Bush
In summary: When Europeans don't take their security seriously, they're freeloaders. When they decide to arm themselves and present a plan to send troops to Ukraine to protect a future ceasefire, they're fanatical warmongers trying to prevent peace

Worth stating simply what’s happening. An American government is launching a full-scope political & economic assault on an ally repelling an ongoing invasion to compel them to terminate martial law, topple their president, hand over minerals to America & accept a ceasefire w/out security guarantees.

The Trump administration is now providing them with the incentive to start thinking on their own and acting in their own interests. They are still a long way from doing enough. However, Europe on its own can keep Ukraine in the fight and properly mobilized, can help Ukraine win.

One thing to keep in mind is that European states have always had the basic strength to do much more for Ukraine. They have the money, technology and people needed. They have lacked the strategic ability to think on their own and were too afraid to break with the USA.
