NEW: Baseball is thriving. Now please, MLB, don’t blow it

A classic World Series shows again that the sport is back. But a long work stoppage looms after next year - and risks enraging fans and undoing all of the game’s momentum

Everyone's gushing about Ohtani's performance, but 6IP/4ER isn't great (he should've been pulled after 6 IP). Yet mid-2010s Kershaw had similar lines on short rest with a worse bullpen & manager, but the narrative was he choked in playoffs. Interesting double standard. #Dodgers

It’s still possible to love the country and condemn this war. But it’s getting difficult.

Dry humor in this footnote from @citizencohn.bsky.social: "The surest way to avoid this kind of duplication would be to blow up the U.S. system and create the kind of seamless, universal coverage system they have in peer countries. But that’s not something advocates for Medicaid cuts would support."
The Trump admin complained last week that 2.8 million people are supposedly "double-dipping" in different kinds of government-provided medical coverage.

But duplication is not necessarily duplicity: Some of this messiness is inevitable in a patchwork health care system like the United States has.
