These days in English if you say something sucks that means it’s bad but if something fucks that means it’s good, but fuck you is still bad, as is being a fucker, and I find this all wonderful and chaotic.

I am not tolerant. I strive to be kind, to fight against injustice, to be open minded and accepting of others’ points of view, within reason. None of these things requires me to be tolerant of those who would seek to harm others.

The right’s twisting of the word woke into something negative must be one of the single most heinous and widespread instances of cultural appropriation in decades. I’m so tired of explaining this to people.

Companies receive govt $ based on the # of people they detain which is why they lobby for stricter immigration policies. It’s a lucrative business: CoreCivic made over $560m from Ice contracts in 1 year. In 2024, GEO Group made more than $763m from Ice contracts.
