I know we’re in dark, dark times. Tonight I did a stand up show in San Jose. That audience was kind, raucous and laughed throughout. Many of them had been protesting. I’m tryin all new material. It felt as if they were hugging me with their laughter and they got ME through the show.

After today’s picture description l have included poem l have written that is inspired by this scene. Our picture is a dramatic black-and-white landscape. A long concrete bridge stretches from the right side of the picture toward the distant left, crossing over still, dark water. The bridge is supported by a row of evenly spaced pillars, which form a repeating pattern as they disappear into the distance. Beneath the bridge, the water is so calm that it acts like a mirror, reflecting the arches, the bridge’s underside, and the heavy sky above. This reflection creates a striking symmetry, as though the scene is doubled. In the background, soft, rounded hills rise gently behind the bridge, their shapes dark and subdued. Above them, thick storm clouds fill the sky. They are layered and swirling, with bright patches of light breaking through darker masses, giving the sky a turbulent, moody feeling. In the foreground, near the bottom right corner, there is a sloped concrete edge and a small stretch of gritty shoreline scattered with pebbles and stones. This rough texture contrasts with the smooth, glassy water beside it. The overall mood is quiet, powerful, and slightly ominous, as if a storm is about to arrive. And finally, our picture is finished with a simple white border frame. And now my poem… I call it ….Beneath the Bridge of Quiet Skies Beneath a bridge of shadowed stone, Where arches march in silent line, The water keeps a secret twin Of cloud and curve and dark design. Storm-heavy skies hang low and deep, Their restless shapes in mirrored sleep, While hills stand still in distant grey, Watching the world hold its breath and wait. Pebbles whisper at the shore, Small against the vast and sore Weight of sky and looming rain Yet in their hush, there is a pain. Here, where reflection meets the real, The storm and stillness gently kneel, And time itself seems briefly caught Between the water and the thought.
