I've been fighting for disability benefits my entire fucking life, and only now that I'm literally bedridden am I even being remotely listened too while ALSO still being criticised and denied at every point

Takes that include making it harder for people with invisible disabilities are atrocious

Balancing "no person with a disability should be denied accommodations" with "it's important to discourage non-disabled people from pretending to be disabled to take advantage of these accommodations" is really difficult and I don't have a great answer for what anyone should do about it.

As a disabled person, I would literally rather have any single person who apply for benefits be approved without questions versus risk having someone with it lose out on it

Disability benefits arent even that good, we desperately need UBI/M4A, free housing, food and utilities

Existing disability services are deeply underfunded, aggressively audited, means-tested constantly, and can be labyrinthine to even access or maintain without assistance. As someone who spent two decades as a cog in that system, concerns about fraud are overblown compared to the real existing need.
