What I want, is for AI, or a human, or *anybody,* to develop some sort of global sports results blocker, so that when the algo realizes I care about sumo or IPL, or the Tour de France, it doesn't immediately sabotage my attempts to enjoy these things asynchronously by spamming my phone with results.

Your weather app gets its info because of NOAA.

Your mail arrives at your home because of USPS.

Your plane navigates the skies because of the FAA.

Your food is safer -- and we get alerts when it isn't -- because of USDA.

You hear about earthquakes *worldwide* because of USGS.

I worked at an organization that
-helped veterans who have lost a limb
-Assisted elderly and disabled people

NEW: NOAA employees were ordered to give an engineer from Elon Musk's DOGE task force access to all of the agency's Google sites by the end of business Wednesday.

Nothing in the engineer's background suggests any special expertise relevant to his new role.

The current movement to ban X links across Reddit is genuinely fascinating, only partly because it's cementing the collective identity of Reddit as progressive (in opposition to its older, earned reputation as a hive of scum and villainy).

It's also about the nature of digital activism!

I have just, finally, deactivated my Twitter account. I know I should've done it ages ago, but I hated to cede any online @mierla(s) to the void/bots/world-ruiners.
It hasn't been the place it used to be for years now, but man, I'm feeling an unexpectedly strong surge of loss.

It's day 4 of our ULP strike and it's time to #TurnUpTheHeat for @nytimes.com management.

We are asking for support from all of our home cooks out there! Hold the picket line with us by #NotCookingToday - stay off #NYTCooking while we fight for just cause, fair pay and remote work protections.

The "No Math, Just Vibes" version of the passage of time for me is:
1984 = 26 yrs ago
1992 = 15 yrs ago
2000 = 10 yrs ago
2008 = 5 yrs ago
2016 = Also 5 yrs ago
2020 = Last Year
2021 = Also Last Year
2022 = The Present
2023 = 1 or 2 years from now
2024 = Next Year
2025 = The distant future
It’s hard to believe 1984 was almost twenty years ago now
