My #worldcon2025 panels were the best! And thank you for this quote because I always leave with almost no recollection of what I said!
A Boogeylady adopts those patriarchal desires for herself. Depicted as someone outside it but the pure evil is dark desire to claim/harm/do violence @michelleruizkeil.bsky.social

From my notes: Zadie Smith, in a 2016 interview in Slate, talking about Ursula Le Guin.

I also feel the richness of Ursula's life in her work, but I don't know about "overwhelming." She explored her experience through male and nonbinary characters, too, and I love the balance that creates.

The occupation is an intolerable crime, and resistance to it is a fundamental right, and murdering civilians is wrong, and collective punishment of an entrapped population is immoral. We live in a world of ands, not ors.

Upcoming events include launching BLOOM with @chuckwendig.bsky.social this Tuesday and journeying up north for NYCC (and a new tattoo!) next week. This novella means so much to me, and I can't wait to get it out into the world!

A delightful and informative post. Potentially unpopular opinion but I don't love beans for paw pad. But little pillows! Much nicer imh.
Last night I was admiring the black beans of @trance.bsky.social's white cat Han, and ended up learning from commenters that toe beans are called "little pillows" in many other languages! If you speak a non-English language would you share the word(s) for a cat's toe pads and what it means?

Please welcome Eoghan Daltun to Blue Sky who has just joined. His amazing ecological restoration work on rewilding Ireland and restoring the Irish rainforest ecosystem is truly amazing. 🌍

He’s definitely worth a follow:

Contract signed, so I'm *extremely* happy to say my story 'Such Is My Idea Of Happiness' will be in a forthcoming issue of @clarkesworldmagazine.com! It's a near future story about genetic engineering, hypercapitalism, climate and why we all need some sleep.

At the bottom of a nostalgia rabbit hole, look what I found! The owner of this shop kindly employed 17 yr old me when I first moved to San Francisco. Years later, their iconic Siamese bookstore cat Peasblossom showed up as a main character in my first book, All of Us With Wings.

Whenever I hit an annoying block in a WIP, it usually means I need to know more about the world. So I’ll take a single page and fill it up with questions I have to answer before drafting again. Usually this exercises shakes enough loose that I can put words down again.
