Just waiting for Randy Rainbow to pump out an extremely cringey "song" called "Sedition" to the tune of "Tradition" from Fiddler on the Roof

I remember taking the train from the Copenhagen airport into the city and being downright AWED at the space provided for bikes
very funny to be scolded by a train conductor for having my bike in the wrong place, showing him the literal rule written on the amtrak website showing that i have my bike in the only place it is allowed to be, and being told that we’ll have to “agree to disagree”

17 million years without coming up for air ONCE
Animals have been kissing for over 17 million years, a new study suggests.

Kissing has long perplexed evolutionary biologists, given it has no obvious benefit to reproducing or finding food, while carrying the risk of disease transmission.
When was the first kiss? Over 17 million years ago, a study suggests.
Evolutionary biologists don’t know why we kiss — but new research suggests kissing evolved long before humans existed.

I can't explain it but the emergence of this feels like a plot development on SUCCESSION
Someone found an mp3 of the creepy "Jailbait" song Olivia Nuzzi released when she was 16 🫣

Suddenly remembering when there was some kind of electrical fire/arcing situation at the power plant in Queens along the East River back in like 2018 or so and it resulted in weird flashes of light and someone called it the Astoria Borealis (found this AP story) www.detroitnews.com/story/news/n...
NYC utility probes electric flash that lit sky in eerie blue
Electric utility Con Edison was working to figure out what caused a high-voltage equipment failure that unleashed an otherworldly flash of bright blue light in the night sky over New York City

Amtrak appears to be currently having a sale on NEC routes, I'm booking now for the weekend before Xmas
Pro Tip: If you're traveling the next few weeks on the Northeast Corridor, book whatever seats Amtrak has left at this point ASAP before prices go way up and availability disappears.
United starting to post its Trump Flight Cancelations for Friday and the #CursedRoute is taking a 50% hit.

“Your flight is canceled due to FAA-mandated airspace restrictions during the government shutdown.“

This isn't a closing election argument, it's Vidkun Quisling explaining why surrender is better than resistance.

The white guys on the popular television program THE BEAR call each other "cousin" and yet are not actually cousins.
Sorry I refuse to entertain the complete non-existent world where white people don’t know that countless cultures, including some of their own but certainly diasporic racialized ones, call their mom’s cousin’s friend’s sister they grew up with “cousin” and call close women elders “aunt/auntie”

I was at my doctor's for a physical this week and got my flu shot as part of it but apparently to get a COVID shot would have cost an extra $50 "fee" out of pocket (?!) so here I am braving the shitshow that is my neighborhood Walgreens on a Friday afternoon
