You know you are the villains when you are fighting to starve people.
LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR: DOJ DID ALL OF THIS TO TRY AND STOP PAYMENTS TO PEOPLE UNDER AN ANTI-HUNGER PROGRAM.
Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.

One of the key things the Supreme Court is supposed to do on an emergency motion is to balance the hardships to each sides.

Here it is not even close--people starving v. the government not tapping a reserve they are supposed to tap anyway in the event of an emergency
Just going to be an incredible decision if SCOTUS says they needed to make an emergency intervention because of the risk that poor people might get food they are legally entitled to

This week, two elusive favorites return to Story Hour! Natasha Calder reads her uncomfortably-near-future SF "hotBooley," and Michael Haynes reads the gentler, guitar-fueled hopefulness of "Carolina." You can still watch! @michaelhaynes.bsky.social youtu.be/dq0aWfJbbv0

The way the last several minutes of this game have gone I was sure the Avs were going to fumble the puck into their own net on the delayed penalty. #GoAvsGo

Hey, it’s a new podcast with a story of mine! This is a story where I’d written the first draft and then sat on it for close to a decade before revising it and getting it sent out. The original printing was in an anthology so glad to have this one freely available now!
