I only just now realized that my reading today (9 AM in Room 428 of the Convention Center) will be my FIRST solo Worldcon reading. When I read at Chicon it was part of a group reading. Hoping to see friendly faces there! #worldcon

Story time!

Disappointed to find out that Lemonade apparently isn’t on Bluesky so I could tag them. But ecstatic to have FINALLY gotten a picture of this!

That’s right. The ad on that bus says “Sign up at lemomade.com”. 😮

Folks, I saw this for the first time like… months ago.

I’m a couple days late in posting this but my first 2024 short story publication happened earlier this week! “A Drink From the Doubtless Sea” is in the 99 FLEETING FANTASIES anthology. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1950...

I was very pleased to get this anthology in the mail several days ago. I’ve always been a fan of anthologies with lots and lots of very short stories and was happy to get to appear in this one!

Enjoyed seeing the Columbus Blue Jackets win last night in person for the first time in over three and a half years. (Also the first time I’d seen them score a goal in > 3.5 years. Went to one game last winter but they were shut out.)

I liked this photo of fog gathered over a river (probably the Youghiogheny in SW Pennsylvania) early this morning.

Today’s ghost story was “Adam and Eve and Pinch Me” by A. E. Coppard. Another early 20th-century one and I’ve come to realize that is true of many of the stories in this book. I may choose to read some stories from other volumes for more variety. That said, this one was a bit different.

Going to read one story every day from this book during October for spooky season. Today’s story was “Death’s Warm Fireside” by Paul Ernst, a fellow Ohio-born writer. Published in 1936 in Weird Tales, it came to a fairly predictable ending but I liked it’s portrayal of a frigid Ohio winter.

I don’t tend to “do” visual arts other than photography but we went to an art studio recently for our anniversary and did pendulum painting (which I’d never specifically heard of before). Very pleased with how it turned out!

What’s everyone reading at the moment? Here are the two books on my nightstand currently. Almost done with ENDPAPERS, just started THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE last night.
