NEW: Incredible scenes in Washington DC now.

Tens of thousands on the National Mall for the #HandsOff protest against Trump & Musk.

There must be over a million people protesting across every US state today.

Protests show that people are paying attention. Protests show that people aren’t going to go along with things. Protests matter.
Protest changes the permission structure. It says fascists will not be allowed to proceed unencumbered. And if you didn't think there was anything to be done, a protest shows you many think otherwise.

The message is: crowd large.

Many politicians, administrators, and business leaders, in bowing to Trump, have drawn confidence and comfort from the perceived vibe shift.

Events like this puncture that delusion.
You can stop asking where the mass opposition is. It's everywhere.
People poured out to protest not only what Trump has done—and what they fear he will do next.

Goal achieved: An unusual number of people in an unusual number of places. 1,300 globally. There were probably more than 10,000 speakers alone at rallies today. Baffling to think about this scale!

Having covered protests for the last quarter century or so I can tell you that this #handsoff happening extraordinary, and likely to build. (Oh, and that the big newspapers are acting typically clueless)

The terrible CR Budget bill — written by right-wing House Republicans with no input from anybody but themselves — was passed tonight with the support of 10 Democrats.

An absolute failure of Democratic leadership. NOBODY in the Senate should have voted for this dangerous bill.

Serious question: Were Trump and/or "populist" JD Vance asked *even one time* where they stood on Biden's rule expanding overtime pay to 4 million more salaried workers? Were they asked whether their admin will either defend it in court against business interests or let it die?
After the press fixated on the plight of Oliver Anthony for weeks, during the campaign there was zero media pressure on Trump and JD Vance to say where they stood on Biden's overtime rule.

That's insane. Time for some elite introspection about it. 7/7

MSM is weirdly slow out of the gate on openly fascist anti-vax Pete Hegseth as Trump Secretary of Defense, considering he just published a book on his views of the military, War on Warriors. Some excerpts, in which he attacks "diverse" soldiers and seems to be calling for civil war.
