Rep. Lawler's proposals for funding the MTA and speeding up traffic are so ridiculous that they sound AI-generated:

- Ripping up bike lanes (?)
- Using $ for supporting immigrants to fund the MTA (??)
- Revoking welfare for politicians (???)
GOP Governor Hopeful Mike Lawler Dishes Culture War Dreck In Anti-Transit Tantrum - Streetsblog New York City
The Republican congressman journeyed to Albany to spew the same empty rage that transit opponents have trotted out for years.

The far right’s reaction against Indian Americans was foreshadowed by Ann Coulter, who said to Vivek Ramaswamy: “I agreed with many things you said…but I would not have voted for you because you’re an Indian.”

The blatant bigotry here speaks for itself.

Me, a public health person, just sitting over here reflecting on the fact that the US has experienced a 7% increase in infant mortality post-Dobbs.

Like, do you realize what that says about this society from an ethical perspective? That we made policy choices that caused this?

Infant Mortality Increases Across US Following Dobbs Decision
The Dobbs decision was associated with a 7% absolute increase in overall infant mortality—equivalent to 247 excess deaths—and a 10% increase among infants with congenital anomalies, corresponding to 2...

Open New York Chief of Staff @andrewdfine.bsky.social spoke to the @sfchronicle.com on NYC's City of Yes, and how it compares to SF's new plans.

Why is SF shooting so much higher than NYC? Because California requires them to -- unlike New York.

San Francisco has the same housing goals as New York City — which is 10 times its size. Housing experts wonder if the number is ambitious or absurd.

Time to give @bluesky props. As I write this, there are 560 quotes and replies to the post below.

Of those only 4 call me names and give me shit. About 15 do the same towards Trump.

The remaining 541 are on topic and add value.

It’s a battle of political leverage. Who can use tariffs, retaliatory tariffs or sanctions to create more political pain for the other leader. Forcing them to capitulate or face undesired consequences.

How crazy would it be if China, Mexico and/or Canada initiated tariffs before Trump took office
From your standpoint as a businessman and manufacturer, is there any sense behind this? Especially now that other countries are threatening tariffs of their own in retaliation. But that doesn't make sense cause it would mean raising their own taxes.
