A kid with XY chromosomes who identifies as female but hasn't medically transitioned in any way is a trans kid. And THAT SPECIFIC trans kid probably should not be playing on the girl's basketball team despite their identification as female.

Winter Tide is one of my favorite books in general, not just of the Lovecraft reimaginings. It's clever, compelling, and a beautiful way to recontextualize the Innsmouth mythos. 10/10 would recommend.
Winter Tide is for sale at all the ebook vendors today, I'm told. Come and getcher Cthulhoid crises of faith, terrible library loan policies, and ancient horrors stuck teaching Freshman math!
