TCM always does this the best.
As the year comes to a close, TCM remembers the actors, filmmakers and creatives we lost this year.

So, here’s my data point of one. Before I met my now husband in the late aughts, I was a late 30s women looking to date, so I had a try at dating services like “It’s Just Lunch.” My preference was men 35 to 50 or so, but I wasn’t against divorced men or men with children.
Yes where else could men possibly receive this scorching insight

As you’re preparing for your Thanksgiving meal, remember the skilled work it took to get that food to your grocery store.

Tell us your favorite Thanksgiving dish, and we can share some of what we know about the work behind the ingredients.

This is an incredibly powerful piece, impeccably researched, and everyone should take the time to read it. It clarifies a lot of things I’ve instinctually felt but haven’t quite had the words to describe.
We have a “poverty trap” and it’s driving the destruction of social cohesion.

The “poverty line” is’t 35,000, it’s $150,000, and making more than one, and less than the other is worse than being “poor”.

Which is why the rage.

NEW: Sean Duffy frequently calls safety his “top priority” as transportation secretary. But I spent months wading through regulatory notices and found something far different: that USDOT has been delaying, weakening and killing dozens of safety rules, many opposed by the transportation industry.🧵

This.
Study after study after study shows that voters are more drawn to a candidate who believes what they're saying and are passionate about it than one who agrees with them on every issue.

Triangulation has already cost most of the Dem's public credibility and goodwill. More of it won't help.
I guess this is the savvy take or whatever but as an empirical matter, it doesn't work to reinforce the narratives of your opponents. If Democrats start start saying, "immigrants are the reason crime rates are high!" they won't convince anti-immigrant voters and they'll alienate pro-immigrant voters

May it help illuminate the MAGA attacks on facts and reality, and may hold onto the truth that will keep us free.

Yup.
Find a No Kings protest Saturday and go!

Don't worry that you've never been to a protest before. Don't worry about being dressed wrong or looking out of place. Don't worry that you don't agree about everything -- or even about much -- with lots of people at the protest.

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?

MAGA is fawning over Erika Kirk right now, but there's no way she can keep Charlie's audience.

His bread and butter was sexualized humiliation of college girls — more "Girls Gone Wild" than doing politics the "right way."

His followers won't hear it from a woman.

This is how college was for me as a student.
The right sets the terms of our political discourse in so many ways, one of which is the idea that there isn't enough "debate" and "free speech" on campus.

We need to push back on this. The truth is (speaking for myself as a history prof), I don't really emphasize debate much in my classes/

When people say "We used to drink raw milk from our own cow and it was fine,"

That's... usually not the case!

In families w their own cow, the mom usually boiled it before using.

We just forgot bc that's a boring chore that mom did. And who pays attention to that?
