A reminder that many states offer hardship exemptions to court fees for name changes, and some also waive the requirement that they be placed/paid in the newspaper, so double check!

If you're a trans person who's been sleeping on your name change or any of your identity documents I would strongly recommend getting them in order ASAP. Even if you live in a blue state you don't know what rules might change in the state your birth certificate is from or at the federal level.
