My essay is up at @literaryhub.bsky.social about the late, great Lana Clarkson and other promising young women whose lives have been derailed or destroyed by men. It’s also about my childhood sexual abuse and how I have tried, and failed, to reckon with it.

I am gutted to learn of @sfdirewolf.bsky.social (Alice Wong’s) passing. She was always a warm friend, a wonderful spirit, and someone who fostered my own growth. She helped me see that, as a #disabled person with chronic illness, I matter—I am whole. I’ll be posting some of Alice’s work. ❤️ forever

One way I have found to mourn someone is to set up a monthly sustaining donation to a mutual aid effort they cared about. If you can join me in honoring Alice Wong, @sfdirewolf.bsky.social with a sustaining donation today, please do. Thank you Alice, and I will not let the bastards grind me down.

This just made me cry. I admired Alice so very much, as a writer and as a human being. If we live even a fraction of the life and do even a small measure of the good she did, we will have lived very, very well.

Rest easy, Alice, wherever you are. We’ll do our best to honor your work.

This makes sense for Patton Oswalt and not for Sarah Kendzior, who wasn’t told what she was suspended for or for how long until there was an uproar
everyone gets so mad at the mods here for doing basic mod shit. sometimes you gotta make a little murder joke and eat a three day ban for it. that’s life baby, there’s beauty in that.

Back briefly to share my essay again. Because this, too, is a fundamental part of this country’s corruption.

My pedophile voted Democrat. He was personable, charming even. A lot of ppl thought he was a good guy.

Idc who is on that list.

I want them all outed.

Please read, if you can.

Stepping back from social media for a few days because I’ve been reading Virginia Guiffre’s memoir and Epstein emails are a lot to take. So is some of the commentary.

A reminder that those of us who are CSA/rape/assault survivors can see what you post and the jokes you make. And we won’t forget

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

Today is a good day to remember, and to say, that the #MeToo movement was right, and was righteous, and has been vindicated over and over again. There was no overreach. There was no excess. There was no they-went-too-far.

So much work remains to be done.

It sucks to watch locals close. But if you’re in Louisville and looking for good food and good beer, my sister’s taproom, Shippingport Brewing, is still going, and she could use your support.

She also used to be head brewer at Against the Grain a few years ago, just so you all know….
In local Louisville news: Yesterday Silver Dollar announced they're closing. Today, Against The Grain at Slugger Field announced they're closing.

Never been a big fan of either, to be honest. But both have been around a while (I know SD changed ownership).

ATG had beers I liked, but the food...? 🫤

Something I will never forget are the men in my family who told me Kavanaugh and Trump were family men and I was a horrible person for impugning their reputations.

Fuck these pedophiles and rapists, the whole garbage lot of them, and all of their supporters.

Bring all these motherfuckers down
Jeffrey Epstein advised Steve Bannon that the lawyers representing Brett Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearing should accuse Christine Blasey Ford of being on medications that cause false memories or memory loss.

Especially since Adelita just got sworn in. I’m sure he only did it because they’ve gotten some Rs who were yes votes to switch.
Trump shows little interest in health care or lowering prices but today Jeffrey Epstein's emails were released including one in which Epstein said Trump "knew about the girls" and now Trump is personally making calls to Republicans in Congress to prevent release of the files.

So about Sarah Kendzior’s suspension. I really would like for you to consider who in this moment has credibility, and who you should actually believe. Is it the folks banning Palestinians and trans ppl, or the scholar on authoritarianism?

As I said before, I’m with Sarah.

On this Epstein stuff, just a reminder that multiple contestants in the Miss Teen USA pageant - to repeat, TEENAGERS - said that when Trump owned it, he would walk into the dressing room so he could watch them changing clothes

What I have to say about this would likely get me kicked off this site.

But on its own, it is quite telling

Y’all, more than one thing can be true here.

1)The words used here could be considered suspension-worthy.

2)They’re also a variation on a Johnny Cash lyric. And if they were about the WSJ piece on Johnny Cash, they may have had another meaning.

I’m curious - what is the goal of moderation?
The account owner of @sarahkendzior.bsky.social was suspended for 72 hours for expressing a desire to shoot the author of an article. The post, made 11/10, stated: "I want to shoot the author of this article just to watch him die." 1/2

The first time I read about this case, I cried. The second time, I was angry. The third time, I remembered that RBG and Scalia were fast friends, and it changed the way I saw the court forever.
In 1999, a woman named Jessica Gonzales sought and obtained an order of protection against her physically abusive husband ("AH"), who had repeatedly threatened to kill her and their three children. The order included language specifically limiting when and where AH was allowed to see the children.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Shereen. Shereen and her husband (a house painter) fled their home early in the war thinking it would only be for 2 days. She lost everything as well as many family members. Her main concern is getting her son, Ahmed, 4 into a kindergarten.

Looks like Sarah Kendzior’s suspension isn’t an error. I don’t know Sarah, but I’ve followed her on and off for like 15 years and this is very surprising to me. I’m not big on assuming the worst based on partial information but this feels bad.
Presumably a mistaken suspension of a journalist who is a very anodyne poster over here, @aaron.bsky.team and co. What's the best way to reach the team who can look into it?
In a rare case of Substack notes usefulness, I just learned that Sarah Kendzior (author of They Knew and a brilliant writer) got bounced from Bluesky. What the hell? new @sarahkendzior.bsky.social

Suspending a prominent journalist and scholar of authoritarianism during this particular moment is a very bad look for mods and deserves an explanation.

Restate Sarah Kendzior.
Hey @support.bsky.team What is going on with Sarah Kendzior? Why was she suspended with no explanation? Are you doing this to lesser-known people that we’re never going to find out about?
