And his words on sex and gender were far from scientifically accurate

Must be really sad to have no principles whatsoever and be out of a job.

My latest piece, written for the Kettering Foundation.

I urge organizations, nonprofits, and companies to end the cycle of over compliance with Trump threats, and show how doing so ushers in fascism.

Some lessons from what we have seen in the trans community.

Serious point: This might be the most interventionist American government in my lifetime. The price of just about every good reflects the good thinking of the Commissars in Washington DC implementing their 5-year plan for National Greatness, rather than market forces.

Digging into the reinstated NIH grants. This story is an evolving doozy.

The reinstated grant is an R21 from Seattle Children's Hospital

I was very confused when I read the title:

"An intervention to promote healthy relationships among transgender and gender expansive youth"

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

CDC will no longer collect trans health data following the “gender ideology” EO. With already limited data on trans health, this move attempts to erase trans people even more. It’s a reminder why community-led data collection is crucial, so the availability of this data is not left to govt's whim.
CDC will no longer process transgender data
The agency's decision will likely affect a number of federal health surveillance systems that serve as critical resources for researchers.

It’s how uneducated petty ideologues write.

if funding does resume, remember it is only under the Temporary Restraining Order

That is a huge win, but not a permanent win. Still essential that we build congressional support for never doing this again
BREAKING

On Monday, Popular Information broke the news that the NIH had frozen virtually all grant funding in violation of 2 federal court orders

On Wednesday, NIH leadership distributed a memo, acknowledging that its funding freeze was illegal and directing staff to resume issuing grants.

U of Michigan's medical center is one of the only locations in the state where children can get hearing aids. Why? Because private insurers don't reimburse & Medicaid's reimbursement rate is too low for most hearing aid clinics.

Why can UM afford it? Because it gets indirect costs from NIH grants.

This is the second major lawsuit over Trump's trans ban EO.
