Happy St Katherine's Day to all scholars, librarians, and Katherines. May you win an argument against an annoying man today, in the true spirit of Katherine herself.

My mom texted me asking if I’d like to get a mani/pedi with her or go with her to Costco while she’s visiting.
I’m not sure why this is an either/or question. This is a surprisingly hard decision.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES UNDER ASSAULT: They’re coming for our history.

The US archivist & staff resigned after Trump officials pushed to replace them w/loyalists.

Not just records you’d expect—slave records, immigration records, Native American treaties—all at risk. Will they rewrite or destroy history?

We are finally overcoming the stigma surrounding anxiety and depression - acknowledging that ADHD presents in a wide array of ways and not just something 8 year old boys have. And now men with power are garnering more power to force their conspiracy theories and make life harder for others.
"People should not have to suffer the anguish of being denied life-saving drugs because a couple of guys have decided to apply conspiracy theories instead of established science."

An excellent piece from @marisakabas.bsky.social.
You can pry my antidepressants from my cold, dead hands
A new executive order announced an "assessment" for the use of these meds in children. Adults aren't far behind.

I split my coffee inside my purse this morning. It ruined my planner and now I do not know how to function (no idea if it ruined anything else)

That's how much Big Oil has spent over the last 30 years paying off Congress to look the other way on climate action while the planet burns.

Well, the planet is burning.
Don't let them look away.

Seen a few folks astonished by my lack of support for ChatGPT and similar. Because AI, right?

Yeah, no. What we have right now is glorified autocorrect. Glorified autocorrect that takes the energy of an entire city to do what it does, plus half of Lake Erie to cool down while it's doing it.
