I count 10 cities in 2025 that are on track to have the fewest murders since at least 1970. Newark is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1956 (though only have data through Oct this year) and San Francisco is on pace to have the fewest murders since 1942.

Feels like the UK’s transit construction is finally hitting the wall the USA ran into with new projects about 6 or 7 years ago. Bilbao is getting more transit while Leeds and London aren’t because Spain can build transit cheaply.
The Basque Government/Biscay provincial government have just agreed to finance the FIFTH new Bilbao metro line covering a population of roughly that of Leeds and Bradford. Every station and platform is fully accessible and the current maximum fare is 0.76€ per journey.
Remember when HS2 to Leeds was cancelled by the NIC's shitty maths and fundamental lack of expertise, and Leeds was thrown the bone of "you'll get trams" and I said those would never be delivered?
