Excellent thread tying this perennial question to the appeal of ChatGPT and other superficial text vending machines for the non-writer. Applicable to artists, musicians etc as well.
I've had a few 'what do you do' convs recently, and everyone on hearing I'm an author comes out with "so how do you come up with ideas?", just like every book or movie about a writer has them staring numbly into space because they don't have an idea for the next book. And look, that is Not It.

Dit precies! Ik erger me zo vaak aan journalisten die de rol van de gemeenteraad, de volksvertegenwoordiging compleet negeren, ofwel uit sensatielust, ofwel uit onkunde. Luie journalisten ondergraven daarmee de positie van de volksvertegenwoordiging bij besluiten die de inwoners direct raken
Moerdijk is nog niet opgeheven. Want in dit land verdwijnt een dorp niet door een collegebesluit. Toch leek dat deze week in de berichtgeving wel zo.
