I’m getting the sense that the realpolitik response to the many exigencies of climate change is to let poor people die as quickly as possible
USAID is still gone, no other country has shown either the will or the ability to fill in the services whose disappearance is going to kill millions of people, and no one in the media or political class cares that we are going to kill more people than the Holocaust before this is over 👍

I’M AWARE
We're debating on the government funding package right now and every single Republican voted against a Democratic amendment to pass a clean, one-year extension of the ACA tax credits.
Republicans just don't care about your health care.

Agreed, Senator, but do not forget to remove Sen. Schumer from leadership as well
I will not let people forget that the same Republicans who did everything in their power to make tax breaks for billionaires PERMANENT refused to even negotiate ONE YEAR of health care tax credits for working families.

You should hire me to help you communicate your research to the public because I love doing that and I daresay I'm not bad at it, either.

“okay uh how about retro-60s but just for looks don’t engage with any of the social ferment”
“and the multiple planet-destroyer?”
“he’ll make mom really mad grrr”
“shit we’re done here right?”

one of the best things about the streaming sports era is I never have to wonder what’s going to happen because someone else on Bluesky is watching broadcast/cable and is minimum 30 seconds ahead

Grateful to spend two days on the Klamath watching chinook, liberated by dam removal, return to streams from which they’d been precluded since the Titanic sank. Fish are everywhere, in numbers that stagger the mind & locations that biologists figured would take years to repopulate. Too beautiful.

“In 1096, a group of monks were kicked out (again) from their monastery, on account of being monks the wrong way. This is the kind of deeply medieval debacle that leaves modern souls perplexed and yawning.”
