Burning question from my medieval lit class about Saint Christopher: After he was blessed with the gift of human speech, did he talk like Scooby Doo?

Just read Wide Sargasso Sea for the first time. Great novel, but I was really hoping it would shed more light on the whole eel situation.

I think I am in a math textbook, because the Amtrak employee just came out and said two trains are coming from east and west, and the one going east is late, and she's not sure which one will arrive first.

Just voted! I'm going to be out of town for advance and regular voting, and I wasn't sure about the timing of a mail ballot, but it's very easy to do seven days a week at the Elections Canada office. Let's keep Canada from falling to the dark side!

The point of having official languages is to protect minority language speakers, not oppress them.

As a Canadian uni student, I was surprised that the US didn't have an official lang - I assumed they were like flags. Then my Linguistics prof explained the English-as-an-Official-Language movement...
President Donald Trump will soon sign an executive order designating English as the official language of the United States, marking the first time the country will have a federally recognized national language in its nearly 250-year history.
Trump to sign executive order designating English official language of U.S.
The order will rescind a mandate “that required agencies and recipients of federal funding to provide extensive language assistance to non-English speakers,” the White House said.

I once talked to an American academic at a conference in Canada who was genuinely surprised that the prices she had been seeing on menus all week and paying by credit card were in a different currency.
Genuinely I'm starting to think many Americans truly think Canada is a territory and not a sovereign nation.

Anonymous feedback on my new medieval literature course helpfully points out that I spelled Le Morte Darthur incorrectly. I may have to duel over an apostrophe tomorrow.

In grade 5 I signed a petition asking the school to buy more alto recorders. I didn't play alto recorder, but I was persuaded that sharing them was gross.

I got detention and had to talk with the music teacher about recklessly putting my signature on things that I didn't know anything about.
