My hot political-economic take? It is perfectly fine to replace workers, actually, because work is bad.

At least part of what we think of as "aging" isn't just because of the passage of time.

Like aging can cause cognitive and physical decline, but also older people are just, on average, more sedentary and less likely to intellectually challenge themselves

They're deporting me off-world to work in the glucose mines
Huh, this is funny. Physical simulations of conditions on the Kuiper Belt object Arrokoth imply that a fairly significant fraction of the surface could be made of... sugars?

the closest thing I have to a unified theory of this is that the last decade is what happens when the graph of ~everything approaches being fully connected
its like a postmodern version of the old testament. the egyptians got seven plagues and they were all pretty bad but at least it was time-limited. we have been getting a nonstop stream of painfully weird and humiliating incidents from mid-2016 onwards

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

This is really cool! The proliferation of night vision/thermal obviously is a big deal for the tactical/security space, but it's also interesting from a transhumanist perspective

Individuals learning to play with extended sensory bandwidth, quite literally new ways of seeing
Collimating the images between a PVS-14 and thermal optic, like the Armasight Sidekick 640 Mini seen here in this combination of the two images, really offers an interesting view that doesn't quite cleanly translate to perfect 1:1 vision between the two, but can still feed you a ton of visual
