Alito’s opinion essentially makes it illegal for a school district to teach evolution without informing parents and letting them opt out. Insane.
This is very bad because Justice Alito says that Wisconsin v. Yoder, which announced that parents have the right to direct the religious upbringing of their children, "embodies a robust principle of general applicability."

the connection between Habeas & the 4th is clear. General warrants and deportation to stop habeas were both grievances in the Declaration of Independence. Suspension clause & 4th Amendment both prohibited Congress from acting (approving general warrants & suspended habeas)
Courts’ obsession with exec power has obfuscated that Constitutionally, Article I’s habeas suspension clause is a dualistic limit—Congressional authorization of overbroad executive discretion—just as with the 4th amendment. What then gives the exec *unique* deference on foreign affairs issues?

Judge Howell is not kowtowing. She is serious about this stuff. It’s why her clerks and interns are anonymous. She would actually call in foreign mediators. She refused to act for another reason. Don’t be misleading
This is a US court of law, refusing to bar illegal actions of the Executive branch out of an explicit concern that its agents will react with deadly force.
Wow. Judge Howell is worried that if she orders DOGE to leave the USIP building it could turn into an “armed standoff” over unwillingness to vacate, and points out law enforcement has shown willingness to help DOGE. Asks if we’ll need foreign mediators to come in.

Holy crap. The DOJ is arguing that the President can unilaterally deport anyone he wants without ANY statutory authority, just on his inherent authority as President over national security.

Just look at how we view hoodies. On Mark Zuckerberg, the hoodie is a symbol of whiz kid meritocracy breaking norms and developing the New Economy. On people like Trayvon Martin, the hoodie is sometimes seen as proof of criminality. Again, it's about the bodies beneath the clothes.
