If you read nothing else, then read bullet point #12 in Jonathan Bostons submission.

Then submit your response to the Regulatory Standards Bill before 12/1 please.

Of course there's the bill itself, and you should read it to see how unappealing they made it to read. It's as dry as dust and the epitome of the banality of evil. legislation.govt.nz/bill/governm...

This is a great explanation of the Regulatory Standards Bill and why it REALLY sucks.
Duncan ‘constitutional entrenchment of neoliberal principles..’
Me ‘it really sucks’
We can both be right!

The Ministry for Regulation is consulting on a proposed Regulatory Standards Bill - As it is currently conceived it is a constitutional entrenchment of neoliberal principles, with an accumulation of power in the hands of the Minister for Regulation.

The brilliant Arena Williams, MP for Manurewa, describes the $$$ benefit that Winton will gain, much of it from rate/taxpayers. Us, in other words.
The Hansard transcript is here too - it’s appalling stuff.

Winton donated around $100k to the National Party, just as an aside.

one of the things we are going to regret most about the last decade is not making cryptocurrency flat illegal. i think you should think hard about what it means to have much of the president's inner circle heavily invested in an asset class which depends on the collapse of the American economy.

The Minister of Finance and the Treasury released its Half Year Economic and Fiscal Update today, and with it – its ‘plan’ for the Budget in 2025 in the Budget Policy Statement. The indicators show very clearly that it’s not working for anyone. A long thread (apologies) #nzpol

No Plan, No Idea, No Ferries. Today’s announcement by the Minister of Finance means we don't know:
- where replacement ferries are coming from
- how much they will cost
- who will pay for them
- how the port infrastructure will be delivered,
- the fiscal or economic impact

Hes a vile, shifty little troll. Every employee wide call he came on he stated that he had inherited a mess and he was the only one that could save us. Basically blame the victim before you stab them in the front. I hope his karma arrives soon.

And now we have the answer: the Auditor-General agrees. Redundancies and holiday back pay was counted in the year before they were incurred. Former CFO Rosalie Hughes is vindicated, and Lester Levy is left looking quite untrustworthy.
