if you are fine supporting that stuff or even pragmatically understand why a studio would use it, you're not any different to me than people who use chaptgpt or grok or whatever "just as a joke"

i think it's fine that my concept art friends don't have jobs anymore because they're first on the chopping block for layoffs and executives are happy to offload that shit to midjourney and pinterest!!! the game's really fun though so it's fine!!!!

i think it's good actually that a videogame prominently featuring AI voice acting is finding success while my VA friends haven't found steady work in years and have their rates forcibly ground into dust over the few reliable gigs left

arc raiders seems to be the game that a bunch of streamers are getting the "are you going to play this??" chat and i have sort of given up on gamers in general having any sort of morals anymore but truly i will think less of anyone playing it lol

for the things I'm knowledgeable in, I know I can do a better job than the AI, and for the things I'm not knowledgeable in, I can't be sure that anything it tells me is correct. so what does that leave, generating stuff that doesn't need to be correct in the first place? it's a toy and little more

even a completely uncontroversial game, a well liked cult hit with a feel good dev story that that isn’t particularly daring or controversial in any way, is pure grist for the endless culture war. there’s no pushing back on it really. this is video games now we made our bed
