Ahead of the Oscars, I once again wrote about my favorite movies of the year. If you were as pleasantly surprised as I was by 2024, just wait. 2025 is going to be a doozy. amixedreview.com/2025/03/01/t...
The 10 Best Movies of 2024
On the back of industry-wide strikes, I had low expectations for 2024. Surprisingly, the movies delivered. The year wasn’t rife with five-star bangers, but there was a lot to like. I wholeheartedly…

Holy crap

Also, why aren’t regional airlines getting into regional HSR? If I saw those numbers I’d be like we need to diversify our portfolio
I read this morning that Penn Station serves more than 2x passengers per day as Atlanta Hartfield, the country’s busiest airport. So I had to map them at the same scale. 🤯

This should be the biggest story in the country right now. The sitting US President was extorting state lawmakers from his own party by threatening to withhold public money if they didn’t gerrymander for him.

I don’t know how else to say it…

Makes you wonder what the extreme position is. (It's camps.)
pretty wild seeing just how far right the average conservative has gotten now that they all say that a standard nazi germany era policy is “moderate” in their bubbles

One theory I have is that competence, self-control, responsibility, and expertise have all been feminized, leaving “masculinity” with the realm of impulsivity and petulance. So the divide is not really between “femininity” and “masculinity” so much as between adulthood and childishness.
Everything else aside, the idea that this is a model for many men of *masculinity* is so wild. This? This is "manly"? This is how people think it's cool to act?

They're using the confinement box, one of the most horrific methods of CIA torture in the post-9/11 black sites, against migrants now. This is the direct result of the lack of consequences for the architects of the torture program. Either there will be criminal penalties for this or it will expand.

Elon Musk is worse at hiding it but this is the problem with all billionaires: they are a threat to democratic governance. They have an insatiable need to own and control everything. If you want to be free you have to curb their power, and demand political leaders who understand that

without fail the most disgusting, entitled, criminal shitheads in the country, the people who hate the place they live in the most, the people who shirk work and complain nonstop every word out of their mouths, are white conservatives like Donald Trump

The behavior you'd expect from a rapist.
Brett Kavanaugh's behavior during today's second oral arguments has been incredibly obnoxious and rude. He is so eager to kill a service member's lawsuit against a negligent government contractor that he keeps interrupting other justices, raising his voice, and getting emotional. Weird and erratic.

It is the press’s job to inform people of news like ”what policies the government implements.” Like, that’s just objectively what the news *is.*
Missing from every conversation like this about this IRA is that absolutely nobody knew what was in it because the President was incapable of selling policy to the public. It's really not the job of the press to do this.
This right here, this exact sentence, is THE problem in American political journalism.

The IRA *was* cheap energy and good jobs! That was the whole bill! Democrats did precisely what political pundits are telling them to do and the pundits just ignore it.
