I'm not sure if it's as much X--as a platform that's the sum of its users--that had an outsized impact on this election as it is its owner, who leveraged the platform's legacy influence.

It’s an existential crisis for the state and the its Democratic Party and so many people don’t give a shit.
I'm endlessly kind of baffled by the lack of urgency on housing California. This is the state's number one problem—a crisis so bad that's imperiling national Democratic ambitions. And all we can pass are heavily compromised bills that take effect in like five years, if ever.

After years of talking to Trump supporters my view of them has become very simple: They want socialist, even sometimes progressive reforms but they want them from someone who makes those reforms feel powerful and masculine and they want to make sure the people they don't like don't benefit from them
we're cooked

From the newly-built rooftops!
Evidence has demonstrated this effect in numerous cities now.

I understand why it sounds weird to say, 'building a bunch of fancy new townhouses and skyscrapers will make housing more affordable!' but it simply appears to be true.
So proud of the great work happening in Minneapolis, which shows that boosting housing supply helps make homes more affordable.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

Lots to chew on here, but I'm struck by how Dems never want to give themselves credit.

Did you know that obesity rates fell last year, or that after several years of decline, the average lifespan ticked up? Probably not. Yet I never heard Ds defend their HHS record.

FFS. Rep Dan Goldman should find something useful and productive to do with his time instead of suggesting that an entirely unambiguous amendment is in some way ambiguous.
Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman is introducing a resolution to clarify that the 22nd Amendment — which sets presidential term limits — applies even if the terms are not consecutive.

Then it hit me: The big success of the US right over the last decade or so, helped by a cadre of centrists, is convincing a lot of people that the Democratic Party is whoever you think is the most radical, most annoying person on the internet. Therefore, voting Republican is a vote against them.
