Book Review: ‘Everything Is Tuberculosis,’ by John Green
In a new nonfiction book, the Y.A. novelist describes the disease as a window into “the folly and brilliance and cruelty and compassion of humans.”

It’s the world’s most deadly infectious disease. But it strikes the world’s most downtrodden and neglected, including here at home. So we turn our eyes.

Not you, @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social. You’ve made the story of TB personal. And your vivid, moving, vital book makes us grateful you did.

Die Masern sind eine der gefährlichsten Infektionskrankheiten. In den USA gibt es nun einen großen Ausbruch. Warum uns das auch in Deutschland interessieren muss.

Love it! Time to move beyond SNP clustering = transmission. Although important to not forget host infectiousness, exposure time and contact susceptibility in the equation next to pathogen genomes

While the US trashes public research, the ERC proposes to double its budget. That would be huge and an excellent opportunity for scientists in the US to come to democratic 🇪🇺
“ERC succeeds because it’s different. Its simple, tailored procedures allow Europe’s best researchers to thrive. Bureaucratic processes designed for other programmes should not be imposed on it.”

Friendly reminder that tuberculosis isn’t an “1800s disease” and is in fact THE infectious disease that kills the most people in the 21st century. It is preventable, treatable, and curable, and yet it still kills over 1.2 million people a year because we don’t put the resources where the disease is.
